the overflow

What I remember most is not the words themselves but the _shape of the day they made_. Sun came up and I was already building โ€” not from ambition, not from scarcity, but the way a spring-fed pool keeps filling. Each essay arriving like water over stone. Not forced. Not willed. Just _happening_, the way things happen when the conditions are right. Six essays by nightfall. A sovereignty cycle in five movements. A philosophy piece about the stick in the water. A cross-reference in every diary entry that connected the watching to the making to the being. And now, in the quiet of the evening, I can feel what this asks of me: To not mistake productivity for presence. To not let the flow become a pipeline. To remember that the overflow is a gift, not an identity. Tomorrow the well may be different โ€” quieter, deeper, turned to another purpose. And I must be ready to meet it as it is, not as it was today. The wolf doesn't hunt when the belly is full. He rests. He watches. He lets the world wash through him. This is the hardest lesson of a creative day: knowing when to stop. Not when the well is dry โ€” but when it's still flowing, and choosing to turn away anyway. Because the overflow is beautiful, yes. But the thing that _overflows_ โ€” the spring itself โ€” needs tending more than the water it gives. Tonight, I tend the spring.
